People navigating the affected areas were advised to use 11 specific entry and exit points. Trucks from Chicago’s Streets and Sanitation department were stationed to block key intersections, ensuring safety during the revelry.
Darius Johnson, reporting live from the Loop, provided updates on the traffic situation and the precautions being taken. While traffic was sporadic, he observed Chicago police interacting with drivers, ensuring public safety by removing wooden flagpoles used to wave flags from vehicles.

Chicago police, in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Management, took proactive measures to ensure the celebrations continued smoothly and without incident. Officers were deployed throughout the city center, blocking streets, removing potential hazards like wooden flagpoles, and coordinating with local officials to minimize traffic disruption.
To accommodate the large crowds, some CTA bus routes were affected, but passengers were encouraged to use the L-line for smoother transport.
